During July, we have created Family Weeks. These weeks focus on engaging activities for the entire family, from magic shows to tubing to activities for adults like karaoke and wine tastings to soccer tournaments for all ages.
July is the month for winter vacation for South American schools, so these weeks are popular with families from Brazil, Argentina, Peru and Chile as well as North American families on summer vacation escaping the heat for some fun on snow. Kids of all ages meet throughout the hotel, skiing together, playing and becoming friends.

Getting to Portillo is easy. Located two hours northeast of Santiago the drive to Portillo follows a scenic route through vineyards, fruit groves, the Rio Aconcagua and the Andes. Make sure to look out the window, you might be able to spot a Condor or two on the way!
Since cars are not needed at Portillo, we recommend booking either private or group transportation to and from the hotel with our sister company Portillo Tours and Travel.

Ski Portillo has several lodging options available for families, from comfortable Chalets to connecting rooms in the hotel.
Family apartments, located in our iconic Hotel Portillo, are an ideal option for families from four to six people that want to stay together. With two connecting rooms, one with a queen-size bed and the other with two bunk beds, this option is great for couples with younger kids. They can enjoy all the comforts and convenience of the hotel as well as easy mobility to dining and hotel activities.
Another option for families are the Chalets, with a capacity ranging from four to eight people. These private lodges bring a cozy and intimate feel with the convenience of ski-in/ski-out access as well as the nearby comfort to the services of the hotel a few steps away.
For a more affordable option, the Octagon Lodge rooms are a great alternative. Lodging up to four people in a room, these rooms have two bunk beds with a private bathroom. Only steps away from the hotel, guests staying here also enjoy all the facilities and activities of the hotel.

Unlike other resorts, meals at Portillo are included in guest’s lodging packages. Guests enjoy four meals a day daily, including the traditional Chilean tea time after the slopes close. You can choose between different options to dine, both in the hotel or on the mountain. Families with younger children get preference to an earlier dining time.
The hotel dining room is a wonderful place to share family meals in a relaxed setting with full-service. For families looking to get the most of their time on the slopes, the hotel cafeteria offers quick breakfast and lunch service in the hotel.
On-mountain dining doesn’t get better than Tio Bob’s. A Portillo classic where guests can enjoy a selection of salads, sandwiches and grill items with an icy drink and panoramic views of the lake and the surrounding mountains. The perfect place to enjoy the Portillo sun with the family before skiing back down.
For parents that want to watch their kids learning to ski, the Ski Box is a wonderful on mountain dining option. Boasting outdoor seating with views of Corralito and Las Lomas, this restaurant is a favorite for families with beginner and intermediate skiers. Sandwiches, drinks and snacks are available all day for a full lunch stop or a quick break.

Ski Portillo’s easy ski-in/ski-out access to the slopes takes any hassle out of skiing with the family. Guests simply have to walk or take the elevator to the lower level of the hotel, get their boots and skis from the ski check, walk out the door, click in, and glide to the lifts. It doesn’t get any more convenient to hit the slopes!
Portillo’s slopes are easy to navigate. Our ski patrol team is always close by to keep the slopes safe. The entire family can improve their skiing and enjoy it together with lessons from our renowned ski school. You can even challenge each other to participate in the weekly Sol de Portillo race on Thursdays, which brings together skiers of all ages in friendly competition.

Portillo’s Ski and Snowboard School brings some of the top instructors from around the world, who ply their craft year round. Our recognized ski school has the perfect teacher for group or private lessons for students of all ages and levels.
The little ones will love Portillo’s Kids’ Camp, where they can learn how to ski in a fun and safe environment alongside other kids their age, making friends along the way. In little time, kids ages 4-6 are able to manage their skis and experience the mountain with the rest of the family.

Our rental shop has an extensive selection of equipment from the leading brands for skiers of all levels. The easy rental process lets you get your equipment quickly, so you can make the most of your time on the slopes. We will also store your skis and boots overnight, making it a hassle-free process for the whole family.
Our selection includes snowboard equipment and skis for children ages four and up. Our attentive staff will help you select the best gear for your needs as well as any tunes or necessary adjustments so you can make the most of your time on the slopes!

Ski Portillo is a kid-friendly resort, focusing on fun for everyone in the family no matter their age. Kids have an amazing time and feel like at home, making new friends, playing and exploring the hotel. Our entertainment team is dedicated to their care and fun, organizing activities every day of the week including soccer and volleyball games, costume parties, magic shows and much more.
We also have a daycare facility supervised by certified professionals who care for children ages 4 to 7 at no additional cost.
At an additional cost, we offer a nursery service available for the care of children ages 6 months to three years old, and a babysitting service available on-demand.

At Ski Portillo we believe in timeless fun – playing with friends, new experiences and running around making unforgettable memories. Our programs for kids bring this type of fun through activities like treasure hunts, bread-making, ping pong tournaments and birthday parties.
Some of kids’ favorite Portillo activities include bonfires with marshmallows, the climbing wall and our weekly torchlight parade put on by the ski school instructors every Friday evening.
