Located two hours northeast of Santiago, the drive to Portillo follows a scenic route through vineyards, fruit groves, the Rio Aconcagua, and the Andes. Since cars are not needed at Portillo, we recommend booking either private or group transportation to and from the hotel with our sister company Portillo Tours and Travel.
Different types of accommodation are available to suit everyone's needs and budgets. As a solo traveler, one of the best options is to stay in the Hotel Portillo where you can choose single rooms with views of the mountain valley or the Inca Lake.
For those looking for a more affordable singles ski trip option, the Octagon Lodge offers all the services included with a room in the hotel, but in a bunk-style room shared with three other guests of the same gender. The Inca Lodge is the most economic option and consists of a hostel-style rooms shared with other guests of the same gender, a communal bathroom. and meals at the Cafeteria.
Unlike other resorts, meals at Portillo are included in guest’s ski-week or mini-week. Guests enjoy four meals a day, including the traditional Chilean tea time each day at 5p.m. after the lifts close. You can choose between different options to dine, both in the hotel or on the mountain.
The Hotel Portillo dining room is a great place to share meals with new friends in a relaxed and timeless setting. Guests can also have dinner in the Bar, with traditional Chilean specialties, sushi, or fondue as options.
On-mountain dining can’t get better than Tio Bob’s, a Portillo classic where guests can enjoy a selection of salads, sandwiches and grill items with a cold drink and panoramic views of the lake and the surrounding mountains. Tio Bob’s is also the perfect place to share drinks with friends and enjoy the Portillo sun before skiing back down.
Portillo has slopes for skiers of all levels. If you are an advanced skier, we recommend warming up and getting familiar with the terrain on some of our intermediate slopes before moving on to more advanced terrain. Intermediate and beginner skiers who want to warm up and refresh their skills can find easy slopes just outside the hotel door.

When visiting Portillo by yourself, group lessons are a great place to meet other skiers at your same skill level with whom to share fun on the mountain. Portillo group lessons are the original ski camp, where the same group of skiers meets their instructor for an hour and half every day, improving together throughout the week and becoming friends.
Whether you need skis, boots, poles, or snowboard equipment, we offer a variety of equipment for beginner, intermediate and advanced skiers and snowboarders. Portillo has a fleet of performance equipment that is updated seasonally and features a complete supply of skis, including powder skis and high-performance skis from some of the best brands in the market. Portillo’s Rental Shop also has helmets and snowshoes for rental. The shop provides an array of services including ski or snowboard tuning, binding adjustment, and waxing so you are ready to hit the slopes.
Expect your stay at Portillo to be filled with fun activities, especially during our theme Friends Week, Wine Week, and Wine Fest. After a day of skiing, you can enjoy relaxing in the pool or hot tub during sunset exchanging stories from your day on the slopes with other skiers.
While at Portillo, you must try a traditional Chilean Pisco Sour served during our welcome cocktail on Sunday night. This is a great chance to kick off the week meeting some of the other guests and key Portillo personalities, like the hotel owners and the ski school instructors.
Another popular social scene not to be missed is a night of dancing, starting at the bar around 10:30pm guests can enjoy live music from different bands. Snacks and drinks lead to dancing, singing along and good times. After the bar, the party is moved downstairs to the discoteque, where music and shot-skis keep the good times going.
