Ski Portillo offers some of the best ski slopes and skiable terrain in South America and is widely regarded as one of the top ski areas in Chile. Beginner and intermediate runs are groomed nightly and are the perfect learning ground for those newer to the sport. The advanced and expert terrain at Portillo is renowned for bowls and chutes that can accumulate soft snow, becoming the perfect playground for advanced skiers. Corralito

The easiest green run on the mountain, Corralito is a beginner area with a Magic Carpet lift. Perfect place for those starting out and looking for a gentle, wide slope close to the hotel.

Las Lomas

The best run for skiers starting to transition into Blue runs. The friendly slope and openness of Las Lomas gives skiers freedom and control in an uncrowded space with beautiful views of the surroundings.

Juncalillo

An iconic blue run that intermediate skiers will love. Skiers and snowboarders will enjoy the feeling of freedom and adventure as they arc turns down this open, smooth slope with rolling hills. This dynamic, fun slope is best skied in the mornings, Juncalillo gets the sun before all other runs on the mountain, guaranteeing some fresh corduroy under the sun.

Plateau

A great introduction into steeper runs, Plateau is a favorite of advanced intermediates starting to ski Black runs and expert skiers looking for fast laps. Groomed nightly, this run gets the sunlight around mid morning and is a great option for those looking for laps down a smooth, sustained steep pitch.

Roca Jack

An expert skier’s dream, Roca Jack is unlike any expert run in the world. The Va-et-vient lift takes skiers to new heights, providing unparalleled views of the entire surrounding mountain range. The natural snow conditions can range from powder to packed powder or corn snow in the spring and provide a rewarding challenge for the more advanced skier with an adventurous spirit.
Beginner-level skiers and snowboarders are comfortable on green runs. Slopes facilitate learning how to stop, control speed, and make basic turns. Beginner skiers are getting comfortable with sliding and starting to enjoy speed are some of the skills at this level. Enjoy sliding under the Portillo sun on our Beginner-level green runs.

Green runs for Beginners

Corralito, Princesa and el Gaucho are the easiest slopes on the mountain and perfect for those learning to make their first turns on skis or snowboard.

Corralito

The easiest green run on the mountain, Corralito is a beginner area with a Magic Carpet lift. Perfect place for those starting out and looking for a gentle, wide slope close to the hotel.
Intermediate level skiers and snowboarders have mastered stopping and speed control and are now starting to explore blue runs. Skiers at this level are making parallel turns and starting to explore different kinds of terrain, including some off-piste.

Blue runs for Intermediates:

Las Lomas and Juncalillo are favorites among intermediate skiers, with mild, rolling hills, these are great runs to cruise down. Some other blue runs are Canarios, El Zorro and David's Run.

Las Lomas

Advanced skiers have mastered parallel turns and are starting to explore Black runs and varied terrain including off-piste, bumps, and racing. They are comfortable with speed and making different size and shape turns to adjust to the terrain changes.

Black runs for Advanced skiers

Mild steep slopes that are also open and moderate in length offer an exciting experience for advanced skiers. Plateau and David's Run are great starts for those venturing into advanced terrain.

Plateau

A great introduction to steeper runs, Plateau is a favorite of advanced intermediates starting to ski Black runs and expert skiers looking for fast laps. Groomed nightly, this run gets the sunlight around mid-morning and is a great option for those looking for laps down a smooth, sustained steep pitch.
Expert Level skiers have mastered Black runs and are comfortable on all types of terrain including moguls, variable snow conditions and steeps. Snow conditions might include hard pack, ice, crud, or powder, as well as groomed or ungroomed snow. Roca Jack, Garganta and Lake run are just a few of the slopes loved by expert skiers.

Skiing for Expert skiers:

Roca Jack, Garganta, Lake Run, Cara Cara, Travesia (El Estadio, Primera Quebrada) las Vizcachas all offer both a challenge and a thrilling experience, with technical terrain and varying conditions.

Ski Lifts at Portillo

With only 450 resort guests and only a limited number of day tickets sold, there are rarely any lift lines at Ski Portillo – one of the most exclusive ski areas in Chile. See here for a full list of lifts and current status (Open/Closed).

Grooming & snow-making

A state-of-the-art snowmaking system allows for a solid base of snow on the main groomed runs. At one of the top ski areas in Chile, this—combined with our grooming team that maintains the slopes nightly—guarantees amazing corduroy every morning and great conditions all season long

Mountain and Snow Safety

Safety on the slopes is managed by the Portillo ski patrol team. Led by experienced snow safety director Frank Coffey, this team ensures conditions on the mountain are safe for all guests. Overseeing snow conditions, control of avalanche terrain and skier safety, the ski patrol team is stationed at different spots throughout the ski area. Please obey any closures and consult with ski patrol if you have any questions regarding safety.

Amazing experience! We stayed in the Octagon. It was perfect given there were just two of us. The snow was amazing (even with the mild winter). New snow making was fantastic. The customer service/hospitality is over the top. The view is incredible, food delicious, atmosphere is unmatched. I can't say enough about our experience. .....Should be on every skier's bucket list. It's a special spot.

Awesome old-school hotel at 9800 feet in the Andes. Excellent meals, first rate service, comfortable room with a beautiful view. The skiing is fun too! The apres ski is legendary. Lots to do too, from Heli skiing to massages to swimming and hot tubbing.
