Beginner and intermediate runs are groomed nightly and are the perfect learning ground for those newer to the sport. The advanced and expert terrain at Portillo is renowned for bowls and chutes that can accumulate soft snow, becoming the perfect playground for advanced skiers. Select your level to see ski runs marked on the map.
Beginner-level skiers and snowboarders are comfortable on green runs. Slopes facilitate learning how to stop, control speed, and make basic turns. Beginner skiers are getting comfortable with sliding and starting to enjoy speed are some of the skills at this level. Enjoy sliding under the Portillo sun on our Beginner-level green runs.
Intermediate level skiers and snowboarders have mastered stopping and speed control and are now starting to explore blue runs. Skiers at this level are making parallel turns and starting to explore different kinds of terrain, including some off-piste.
Advanced skiers have mastered parallel turns and are starting to explore Black runs and varied terrain including off-piste, bumps, and racing. They are comfortable with speed and making different size and shape turns to adjust to the terrain changes.
Expert Level skiers have mastered Black runs and are comfortable on all types of terrain including moguls, variable snow conditions and steeps. Snow conditions might include hard pack, ice, crud, or powder, as well as groomed or ungroomed snow. Roca Jack, Garganta and Lake run are just a few of the slopes loved by expert skiers.

Ski Lifts at Portillo

With only 450 resort guests and only a limited number of day tickets sold, there are rarely any lift lines at Ski Portillo – one of the most exclusive ski areas in Chile. See here for a full list of lifts and current status (Open/Closed).

Grooming & snow-making

A state-of-the-art snowmaking system allows for a solid base of snow on the main groomed runs. At one of the top ski areas in Chile, this—combined with our grooming team that maintains the slopes nightly—guarantees amazing corduroy every morning and great conditions all season long

Mountain and Snow Safety

Safety on the slopes is managed by the Portillo ski patrol team. Led by experienced snow safety director Frank Coffey, this team ensures conditions on the mountain are safe for all guests. Overseeing snow conditions, control of avalanche terrain and skier safety, the ski patrol team is stationed at different spots throughout the ski area. Please obey any closures and consult with ski patrol if you have any questions regarding safety.
