Get the lay of the land by skiing with a local. Portillo’s guiding service is perfect for those who are advanced skiers interested in gaining familiarity with the terrain. With a more holistic focus on the experience rather than working on techniques and skills, our guides will give you the insider’s knowledge of Portillo and skiing in South America, to enhance your ski day.

Discover the traverse off-piste

The terrain available off the Roca Jack traverse offers endless opportunities for advanced skiers. Our guides know this terrain better than anyone and will guide you around the best spots in a safe and fun way. They know where the snow is best at which times of the day, special routes, and many other insider tips that will enhance your Portillo experience.

Hiking and touring

Portillo has many secret stashes that deliver amazing turns with a little bit of touring or hiking. La Chimenea, Primavera, and Vizcachas are just a few of the options that open up with some hiking or touring. Hire a Portillo guide to explore and ski these areas safely.

Family guided experience

With a Portillo guide, the whole family can have a fun experience. By focusing on skills that suits the entire group’s needs, the direction of a family guide can deliver a great skiing experience for parents, teens, and kids. Lake Run

A legendary run with many secret descents, Portillo guides will show you the best lines of the Lake Run. Complete with a traverse on teh along the lake through the rocks and short hike at the end, the lake run experience is like no other. If the lake is frozen (which the guide will confirm in advance), you skiers may be able to across the lake to return to the hotel.

Uphill Skiing

Those interested in working on their touring shape and exploring the ski area uphilling options can hire an uphilling guide to show them the available routes and best practices.

Prices 2025 ski season

The Guided Ski service is available from Sunday to Friday between 9 - 10 or 12 - 15 and Saturdays between 9 - 17. If you want to hire a guide at different times, contact us in advance (escuela@skiportillo.com) to check prices and availability of our instructors. Classes subject to availability. Rates are in Chilean pesos and include value added tax VAT (19%). Passengers staying overnight at the Portillo Ski Center who are foreigners and pay their bill in US dollars do not pay VAT. Prices subject to change.
