2026 Season Update

2026 Season Update

Latest Update: July 23, 2026

Dear Friends of Portillo,

As part of our commitment to keeping you informed, we are reaching out to update you on the storm currently unfolding in Portillo. As of today (7/23), more than 5 meters (16 feet) of snow have fallen, and this figure is expected to continue rising this week and next, with no windows of good weather for transporting guests up or down the mountain. Access to Portillo has been closed since July 14 for safety reasons.

The duration and intensity of this storm are highly unusual and constantly changing, making it difficult to know when we’ll have an opportunity to resume ground or air access to the ski resort. In any case, we are constantly monitoring the forecasts, and should anything change, we will provide timely updates through our official channels.

We remind you that day passes and season passes remain valid and can be used as soon as we are able to reopen our slopes.

We appreciate your understanding and patience, and we look forward to welcoming you to Portillo as soon as conditions permit.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What happens to day passes and ticket packs during the closure?

Tickets are activated only upon their first use at the resort, so they will not expire or be redeemed while the slopes remain closed.

Is the resort accessible during the storm?

No. For safety reasons due to massive snow accumulation (over 5 meters / 16 feet), all ground and air access, as well as the ski slopes, remain completely closed.

When is the resort expected to reopen or allow access?

Due to the ongoing storm’s unpredictability, there is currently no confirmed weather window. Official updates will be posted as soon as new information becomes available.
